Privacy Policy

(1) Preamble

This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) sets out how we and member(s) of Galeries Lafayette Group (together “GL Group”, “we”, “our” or “us”) collect, use and handle your personal data provided to us, or which we have obtained from your visits to or use our websites, mobile applications, social media platforms or our online services (collectively “our Platforms”) or purchase or use any products, services, facilities (including loyalty or membership program) and/or other subjects of any member(s) of GL Group (collectively “our Services”). We respect your personal data and privacy and protect it in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law of MACAO SAR and all applicable laws and regulations.

You shall read carefully this Policy carefully before providing your personal data or using our Services or visiting our Platforms.

By using our Services, providing your personal data or accessing, browsing, using, subscribing or logging in our Platforms, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy and accept the terms herein.

 

(2) Data We Collect

2.1  When you use our Services, we may collect your personal data, including:

  1. Name, gender;

  2. Contact information such as telephone number, email address;

  3. Your product or service preferences;

  4. To ensure your browsing experience, we may collect information about your device through Cookies or other similar technologies;

  5. Other information with your consent.

2.2  When you interact with us, whether by using our Platforms, or use our Services or communicating with us, we may collect your personal data for the specific purposes as mentioned herein.

2.3  We will not collect, process or use your sensitive personal data without your prior consent or otherwise permitted or required by applicable laws and regulations, and the sensitive personal data may be used for legitimate and necessary business purposes in accordance with the applicable law. Sensitive personal data includes religious beliefs, specific identities, healthcare, financial account and race.

2.4  You acknowledge that the provision of your personal data (including sensitive personal data) is voluntary and we will not collect or process your personal data (including sensitive personal information) without your consent unless otherwise permitted by applicable laws and regulations.  However, please note that if you do not consent to provide your personal data, we may not be able to provide all or parts of our Services as requested by you or fulfill your request in full or respond to your enquiries.

2.5  You should read this Policy before providing your personal data.

(3) Purposes of collection and use of personal data

3.1  We will only use your personal data for the specific purposes mentioned to you on or before collection and other purposes directly related to such specific purposes.  Most commonly, we may use your personal data for the following purposes or uses (including but not limited to):

  1. For improvement to our Services, Platforms and marketing;

  2. For research and statistical analysis;

  3. For sending you direct marketing promotion with your consent;

  4. For compliance with laws, regulations and requirements, in or outside Macao SAR;

  5. For handling your enquiries/compliant;

  6. For communicating with you; and

  7. For other purposes directly related to or in connection with the aforementioned purposes.

3.2  If we wish to use your personal data for any new purposes, we will seek your prior consent before use.

3.3  We do not knowingly collect any personal data from minors, except as part of dealings to provide minors with our Services, in such event, a parental/guardian’s consent may be required before submission of personal data under the applicable laws and regulations. The definition of minors shall be according to the law in the minor’s jurisdiction of residence (e.g. under the relevant privacy laws of PRC, a minor is under the age of 14 and under the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance (Cap.1) of Macao SAR of PRC, children are under the age of 18). If you become aware that your minor has provided us with his personal information without your consent, please contact us promptly and inform us to delete the data.

 

(4) Retention of Personal Data

4.1  We will take reasonably practicable measures to ensure the security of your personal data.

4.2  We will store your personal data as long as necessary to enable our Services, or for a period required by the laws and regulations.

(5)Cookies

5.1  Cookies are small text files that can be stored on a user’s terminal. A Cookie will typically contain the name of the originating domain, the lifetime of the Cookie, and a randomly generated unique number or other value. The Cookie itself is anonymous and does not contain any personal data, unless you provide your personal information, such as your cached username, password, phone number, and other personal information.

5.2  Cookies can improve your browsing experience. We use cookies to help you access our Platforms faster and more efficiently and enable you to personalize your website settings.

5.3  You have the right to modify your browser settings to accept or refuse Cookies at any time. Your using of our Platforms is deemed as your consent of this Policy and our Cookies usage.

 

(6) Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data

6.1  We may disclose, transfer or share your personal data to third parties (whether locally or overseas) in the following circumstances:

  1. Service provider(s) and organisation(s) under a duty of confidentiality to us who provide administrative, data processing, data storage, collection of payment, IT supports, telecommunications, professional or other similar services to us;

  2. Third parties (including but not limited to co-branding partners that we partner with in connection with our Services and members of GL Group) to whom the disclosure, transfer or sharing of your personal data is to fulfill or facilitate the fulfillment of the purpose(s) for which your personal data is collected;

  3. Governmental bodies or authorities (such as regulatory bodies, law enforcement bodies, government and tax authorities, etc.) as required or authorized by law.

 

(7) Direct marketing

7.1  Subject to your prior consent, we may use or transfer your personal data for direct marketing purposes and sending you updates or push notifications on latest news, offers and promotions in relation to our Services of any member(s) of GL Group (whether partnering with co-branding partners and provider(s) or not) via the channel(s) you previously consented.

7.2  If you wish not to use your personal data for direct marketing, you may exercise your opt-out right by notifying us via the contacts as set out in section “Contact Us” below.

 

(8) Security

8.1  We are committed to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, processing, erasure or loss by taking all practicable measures.  However, no system and method can be 100% secure. To the best of our ability, access to your personal data is limited. Only relevant employees and contractors who need to know and are responsible to maintain the security of your personal data can access your data.

(9) Third-party links

9.1  Our Platforms may contain links to other websites, webpages, mobile applications or media platforms operated by other third parties (collectively the “Third Party Links”). We do not own and have no control over the content on these Third Party Links, and this Policy is not applicable for any third party.  We shall not be responsible for the content of these Third Party Links and your use of these Third Party Links shall be at your own risk. We recommend that you read carefully the privacy policy of the third party before you visit the Third Party Links, to understand how your personal data may be used by those third parties.

10.1  You have the right to ascertain whether we hold your personal data and access, update, correct and object to our use of your personal data held by us.

10.2  If you wish to exercise any of your rights above, please contact us via the contacts as set out in section “Contact Us” below.

10.3  To the extent permitted under applicable laws and regulations, we may charge a reasonable fee for the administrative costs incurred by us in processing and complying with your request above. We may refuse to handle or comply with any unreasonable requests as permitted by the applicable laws.
